It seemed to take time for things to warm up on the ship (atmosphere wise) but did improve and we met some great people. This was our 4th trip now with P&O and whilst we enjoyed it we didn't seem to get the same feeling as we did on the others (e.g. Ventura, Oceana and the lovely Britannia). The port stops were brilliant and Tallin, Stockholm and Oslo were our favourites and we could understand why people do this trip more than once and definitely would love to do this one again. St Petersburg was also great and only ventured on Excursions which were OK. The first day we went to St Catherine's Palace which was beautiful and we were lucky with the weather and didn't have to queue and it was not that busy. As usual you could always do with more time on these excursions but this was worth it. The first night we went to the Folklore show and this was first class. We were not expecting the Russian solder singers but they were first class and the dancing was amazing. A lovely building and a most enjoyable evening. The second morning we went to St Peter Hof Palace which was much busier and you were herded through the rooms quickly but our guide stood her ground and got us through at her pace so she could tell us everything. The wind was strong and we were the last lot to get into the hydofoil as the wind was too strong to get people on and off but I must say that once on it was fine. We had got Rubles and other denominations but we were surprised to find that most places took Euros and wish we had known beforehand. The only places you needed their own currency was Stockholm and Onslow. The excursion in Stockholm for the dome trip was worth it and the views were brilliant as we did have clear blue skies. The remainder of the ports we did our own thing. When buying gifts the best ports were Helsinki, Tallin and St Petersburg and then it started going up in price and quite dramatically. Great things to buy in Helsinki, Tallin and St Petersburg and wish I had bought more. The Azzura on the whole was a pleasant experience apart from the fact that there was definitely an issue (odour) on deck 5 which did get sorted out but also came came now again. We did find that there were too many sun lounges which didn't give you a lot of room to manouvre in between and we have advised P&O in our feedback on this. The entertainment was probably the best we had seen on our cruises. The Michael Buble tribute singer was amazing and the comedians were brilliant and very funny. Overall good trip but felt it lacked something and felt it was not one of their ships that we would particularly go back on. If you get to see Joel in the Manhatten bar, Roger at the Breakers Bar please say hello to them from 3 of us who had great conversations and laughs with. Great guys. Enjoy this trip and hope our review helps.
