We had a WONDERFUL vacation on the Rhapsody! We chose this cruise for the itinerary. We also chose it more than a year in advance, before Royal Caribbean and the Rhapsody suffered a reversal of popularity and quality. We knew she was older. We were not expecting much.
WELL, we were delighted and surprised to find our cruise an absolutely wonderful experience. We have cruised before, so we had comparisons. Our cabin steward was the delightful Daisy, who ensured our complete comfort with truly personal service. Our original bed was horrible and she managed to get the whole thing changed out. My biggest complaint is that the beds are terrible.
Food is a big deal, and while the Windjammer was awful, we were surprised and satisfied with the quality and selection of the dining room food. No, it's not four-star, but you're not paying for four-star. We had amazing service in the dining room. We had anytime dining, but it was obvious that the service at tables 79, 81, 83 and 85 was so stellar that EVERYONE originally seated there requested this table for the entire cruise. Our dining room hostess Tatiana was gracious while doing a tough job. Our wonderful waiters Raj and Kevin served us smoothly and promptly, and even remembered our bread and drink preferences. They teased us when we went to Chops and said they missed us! Yes, I get it. This is simply service. But it is excellent service.
Pretty good location for the price; convenient to the elevators. The ship is older and needs refurbishing, but we found the cabin to be surprisingly attractive with a larger window than expected. The bed was terrible and we didn't sleep the first night. Our steward Daisy managed to replace the thing. The shower is awful but the rest of the bathroom is fine.
