My husband and I chose this cruise specifically because of the ports. Getting older in years (I turned 50, he turned 49, during the cruise) we decided to get some beach time in before we deemed ourselves too old to participate in water activities.

Our flight arrived in San Juan @3:30pm and we took a taxi for @$24 to the pier and we were on the ship in less than 20 mins. We did have to fill out the newest paperwork pertaining to the health questions since it had been updated after I had already printed ours at home. We had brought along tape for the luggage tags but no need to use it as they staple the tags together for you.

We were each issued our Sign and Sail cards, waved goodbye to our luggage, and headed to the ship. Of course they take your picture while boarding, they will snap away every time you get on and off the ship if you allow it. There are also several chances for professional pictures on board, if so desired.

Cabin Review

Aft-View Extended Balcony

Cabin 8M

Aft is the only way to sail! The room itself is pretty basic, we had the normal bathroom, three closets which included shelving and a safe, and there are four drawers built into the desk/vanity. Whoever said to bring magnetic hooks was mistaken. We brought two very sturdy (holds 25 lbs) hook and they basically slid right down the wall. We did buy the hanging toiletry bags and used the towel holders to hang them on. That worked very well.

There were two bathrobes for our use which allowed us to stay warm in the cabin. The temperature was ideal for sleeping so we left it alone.

There are no ironing boards or hairdryers, FYI The are two outlets, one at the vanity and one above the sink in the bathroom. I brought an extension cord but never needed it.

There is ample room under the bed for your suitcases. My husband and I each brought large pieces of luggage and they fit without any concerns.

Two deck chairs were on the balcony although we wish they were chaises instead. It would have been divine to nap out there. We set my IPad on the small table provided and read or looked at stars while listening to music and the soothing sound of the churning ocean. Our balcony was never hot nor cold due to being sheltered on three sides and the overhang kept us from ever being in the sun which was quite alright with us.

We would have like a couch or table and chairs inside the cabin but we honestly did not spend much time inside except to sleep or shower.

The room stewards were great, especially on my birthday when they greeted me (twice) and wrote "Happy Birthday", etc on the vanity mirror. The towel animals were cute but unnecessary.

We opted for room service continental breakfast twice and they arrived 15 minutes early each time. Good thing for the robes :)

I can never go back to a normal stateroom again, All aft from now on, unless we upgrade to a suite. We had plenty of room inside and out.

Port Reviews

San Juan

Taxi kiosk at the airport sets the price for a cab @$24 for 2 people with 2 bags

St. Lucia

We have a friend who lives on the island so we had the Grand Tour from him. We went to the central market for spices, to a beach for drinks, on a tour of a local brewery and lunch with the locals.

Barbados

I was not feeling my best this day so we opted to take a taxi into town and do our own walking tour. We were constantly hounded to take a taxi tour and to buy jewelry. We finally just walked back to the ship. It was only a mile or so back from the city.
