Please excuse my english. I'm German. This was my fifth cruise. The first cruise was in 1993 on the beautiful Regent Sun from New York to Montreal. We have made already two cruises with Norwegian Cruise Line. This was our first cruise with HAL. Maybe it's interesting for you to read a review from a German perspective.

We enjoyed a two-week cruise on brand new cruise ship Koningsdam. The two-week cruise started from Amsterdam to Norway at 29th of May 2016. The whole ship looks very elegant, oriented on ships of past years, but with top modern details.

The ship was packed with passengers. Due to the cold, but clear weather much focused on the interior areas which were thereby partly overcrowded.

Port Reviews

Amsterdam

We stay three days in Amsterdam. It is a beautifull City. But the embarkation was poor. The Terminal was totally overcrowded. HAL offers no refreshments to their guests. You must buy coffee and water-bottles!

Bergen

Bergen is a nice city. You can take a train on the mountain, where is a overlook over the city (Floibanen). In Bergen is a little fishmarket, some colourful, old houses and a fortress (Bergenhus festning).

Geiranger

Excellent tour. Nice Overlooks. But too expensive.

Trondheim

Nice City. Lots of things to see. We do a walk on our own.

Alesund

Alesund is definitely one of the most beautiful towns in Norway! It is so pretty. Easy to visit without a guide.

Flam

Flam is a very small town. We bought tickets for a bus tour to stegastein viewpoint. That was very nice and worth the money. The ticket center is easy to find. You can buy there tickets for the Flam train, too.

Stavanger

You can visit Stavanger by a walk. Nice old town with white houses was next to the ship. Very old church. Interesting oil museum.
