I chose this cruise as it visited parts of Germany that I didn't know very well and places that I wanted to revisit. I had been to Dresden and Meissen in 1992 when both were in a poor state of repair and I wanted to see how they had improved over time. I was also particularly interested in visiting Wittenberg.
I chose a river cruise, as I prefer small ships and being able to go ashore every day. We arrived in Berlin mid-afternoon and were able to join a short walk around part of the city. there was also an interesting tour of Potsdam and Sans Soucci Palace and grounds before travelling to Magdeburg for embarkation, which went very smoothly.
The cabin was a little smaller than I'd expected, but was comfortable and serviced well every day by the maid. There were always large bottles of water left in the cabin.
