We love to cruise the Rhone/Saone because of the beautiful ancient Roman towns and the Chateauneuf, Beaune, Beaujolais and Cotes du Rhone vinyards. Sadly this was a cruise that never happened as the rivers were flooded and the cruise ship remained largely moored at Macon. The company did their very best in trying circumstances and finally transferred us by coach from Scenic Emerald to Sapphire moored in Avignon after one night in a hotel. The crew and service were superb (mainly eastern European), the vessel excellent, the shore trips good, the food excellent and the unlimited wine and spirits satisfactory. Sadly, for a deluxe cabin, we found it rather cramped but very well appointed. Sadly we were booked to fly cattle class with EasyJet - never again! We all felt for Yvonne the cruise director who ran herself off her feet to keep us all entertained and never once lost her brilliant smile and sense of humour. Would we travel with Scenic again - well we shall see.

Cabin Review

Cabin Deluxe with balcony

The cabin was fully appointed with good air conditioning and the bathroom well designed. It was kept in perfect condition by the staff with many little unexpected touches. For the price we felt it was rather cramped with little room to move around the bed compared to other ships we have cruised with, but this did not spoil our holiday.

Port Reviews

Arles

Probably my favourite Provence town with Roman arena and theatre and bath, with romantic bars and cafés redolent of Van Gogh, lavender and sunflowers. Excellent shops, not to be missed.
