Dorm of the near-dead

Review for Hawaii Cruise on Pride of America

The itinerary is wonderful, as long as you overlook a lot of the shortcomings of the ship. The less time you spend on board, the better your experience will be.

We booked an aft balcony cabin. The room was the same size as other cabins, but the balcony was quite large. I don't recommend paying extra for it. We were off the ship as much as possible so we couldn't really get the benefits that we might have on a cruise with sea days. Not much problem with noise, other than in Maui, where trucks were loading gravel into a barge from about 7:30 am till mid-afternoon.

Our cruise had a couple of very large groups which were allowed to tie up the dining rooms for early dining EVERY night. This means that most people couldn't get dinner reservations before 7pm. And THAT mean forget about any shows that start before 9:00 pm. Add a six hour time change from the eastern US and you come to realize that "Free Styling" is a joke. The ship would continue to tout free style dining throughout the week even though they could not fulfill it.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Large Balcony

Cabin B1

Cabin was pretty average for a cruise ship. Small but enough storage room. Few outlets as expected.
