We are not cruisers, but have spent a life time traveling, both for work and pleasure. A day in port was a new concept for us. We chose Oceana because of the large Penthouse stateroom and the culinary recommendations. We were not disappointed with either. What we did not expect was the exceptional staff who were so willing to answer every need.
The ship was lovely with lots of nooks to read or sit and watch the sea. With lots of clouds and drizzle we didn't spend time poolside. Our cabin was excellent with very comfortable wicker chairs on the veranda. The butler service was a great perk, as was the Executive lounge with our own concierge, snacks and newspapers. We dined everywhere. Best was the French restaurant and the Grand Dining room was surprisingly excellent also. We had no trouble arriving at various times and getting a table for two. The Terrace Grill had buffet meals with lobster the big draw. We only went there a couple of times because it was crowded and tables were close together. Weather didn't allow for outside meals which would have been nice. The wine list was adequate. Would have liked a bigger inventory.
We took no shore excursions but used taxis which appeared to be a cheaper and more efficient alternative. We had been to several ports before and didn't need a guide or a pod of people to follow. Taxis were available at each stop.
Spacious and well laid out. Great large bathroom and walkin closet. Being near Executive Lounge was useful.
