We choose this cruise as the destinations sounded interesting. We had read some differing reviews of this trip so was naturally sceptical, however from the very professional and streamline embarkation at Tilbury to the disembarkation at the end of the trip we have nothing but praise for the cruise. The ship although old was very inviting and well maintained, we would suggest extra lounge areas, particularly as our cruise the weather did not permit going on top on the sun loungers. The cabins were extremely clean and comfortable and were regularly cleaned throughout the day. The showers are hot with great water pressure. There are four dining areas, although you are allocated a table in one of the formal dining rooms, this can be flexibly changed to suit the diners. The food was varied and at a high standard. We cannot fault the friendly and efficient waitstaff. As for the bar, we was undecided as to whether we should have a £17 per day drinks package and as I do not drink alcohol I had to have a soft drinks package £9 per day, apparently both people in one cabin must have a drinks package each. We believe it was well worth it as my husband drinks gin and tonic which had to be a double each time as the spirits were very week £8.a time a mocktail was £2.25 an alcoholic cocktail was $4 and with the extra spirit would cost £6, a half pint of beer was £2.50 a bottle of good Spainish wine was £15 per bottle. The entertainment was of a high standard and we enjoyed the nightly show in the theatre, there was always plenty to do. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. As we are not regular cruisers we booked all our excursions with the cruise company however, other than St Petersburg we would in further get on the hop on and hop off bus, where possible at every stop except Stockholm there were one or two buses waiting, Fitness activities were too short at 15 mins a time, we felt this should be increased and more varied. I would defiantly recommend this trip to friends
