This was our first river cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. We coached to Arles from Cannes where our tour gathered and under the direction of our tour director Monica we arrived and were settled in our cabins in good order. All of our guides over the next 8 days were excellent. After doing a tour in Arles we went to the Van Gogh Museum where 31 paintings of the master were on loan from Amsterdam, just spectacular. The food on board, the service, the attention to our well being was wonderful.Of course in travelling there are always some problems , these were taken care of immediately. Highlights for me , Pont Du Gard the town of Uzes Avignon Viviers, where we walked to a Cathedral and there was an organ recital. The market in Tourlon. Wine tasting at the Chateau Pierclos in Macon. We had to stay 2 nights on Affinity in Lyon because of the high level of the river and we did our tour from there before we departed by coach to Beaune and then Paris. We enjoyed the Pullman Hotel in Paris and took the Illumination Tour, Paris by night and it was a different perspective in seeing the City,I highly recommend it. The staff and crew of Affinity made the difference 0n our trip and I certainly would travel Avalon again. Cheers Dan
