Sail Date: May 2016

We did a B2B on the Liberty of the Seas as we wanted to try a different RCCL ship. This was our 29 & 30 cruises. We are Diamond Plus, so we had priority boarding and embarkation was quick. The 1st week we sailed in an Owners Suite and the cabin was awesome. Our 2nd week we Grand Suite. We have sailed many times in Grand Suites, and were "VERY" disappointed with our stateroom #1598. The Grand Suite staterooms are Liberty are 1/3 smaller than on other RCCL ships. It was a total waste of money, and we should have booked a Junior Suite. We started with one day at sea, which we enjoyed spending time at the spa, reading and relaxing. The Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle was the 1st sea day too. We had an excellent M&M as this was a very chatty group pre-cruise. After the raffles everyone introduced themselves and we had a pre-planned cabin crawl. The crawl included the Ben & Jerry promenade view, and Aft Junior Suite, regular balcony cabins, our Grand Suite, an Owner's Suite and an regular inside cabin. It was interesting to see some of the smaller staterooms as we have only cruised in a Junior Suite or bigger., We did have access to the Suite Lounge (formerly the Concierge Lounge), and Anis the Concierge did a good job helping with our requests. Our 1st port was Cozumel (again) and we did the ship Mexican Cooking class excursion at Playa Mia. This cooking class was so much fun. They were very concerned with safe food handling, keeping us supplied with drinks, and helping us make really yummy food. I would definitely do this excursion again. After the class all the facilities at Playa Mia are available for use. I did a quick swim in the pool and we relaxed on the beach for a bit, but we headed back to the ship as it was really really humid. Our 2nd port day was in Grand Cayman. We had priority tendering off the ship and were on shore in 5 minutes. Did a quick shopping walk around and grabbed a taxi and headed to Royal Palms. I had reserved a private beach cabana for the day. The drinks, food, service and pool we used to cool off in at Royal Palms were excellent. Our last port was Falmouth, Jamaica. We got off the ship and walked around the cruise ship port village and shopped at bit. Headed to the Margaritaville inside the port area for lunch, which was excellent. We two days at sea as we headed back to Galveston. On our 1st return sea day we had lunch with an officer as we had reached our Diamond Plus milestone of 340 cruise night. Lunch served in the Main Dining Room with Champagne, & Red or White wine. Dinner the 6th night at Giovanni's was excellent. On our last sea day we enjoyed lunch at Chops, and did the Galley & Bridge Tour, We had breakfast everyday in Chops as it was open to Suite Guests. We did the Chef's Table for the 2nd week in a row, and I highly recommend it on any RCCL cruise. The Liberty of the Seas was a nice ship, but the crew really made this cruise for us. The crew was soooo friendly. I wasn't overly impressed with the Liberty and felt like we on board Voyager class.
