We booked the 12 day Denali Rail explorer. The cruise part of our trip was great. We picked up the ship in Vancouver and disembarked in Seward Alaska. The ship was small but offered up everything you would need. Nightly entertainment was good, also had a casino on board. The ports we stopped in all had something to offer. Great choices of excursions. NCL subcontracts the land part of the trip to another organization. The rail part was not up to the standards I expected. First of all, Monday 6/6 disembarkation was very disorganized. We never received actual tickets for the train either. We were met by someone on the pier and she seemed a bit unorganized. The train ride was nice and the hotel in Anchorage was nice. Tuesday we took the bus to Talkeetna to pick up the train, which was late and we sat at the station waiting. Which put us in Denali later than anticipated. Our bags were not delivered to our room and we only had about 30 minutes before we had to meet for our excursion. Needless to say that this made me a bit uncomfortable, and I needed stuff that was in my suitcase for the excursion. We were told me would definitely have enough time when we arrived at hotel, not the case because of the late train. Tuesday evening we were informed by our tour director about a shuttle that would bring us from the village to our hotel. the last shuttle was at 11:30, when the driver arrived he was very surprised as he doesn't normally run that late this early in the season. Wednesday at Denali was a good day, but our arrival to Fairbanks left a little to be desired. Once again our luggage was misplaced and the motel that we were put up in was unacceptable by my standards. I did not pay the money that we did to camp and that's exactly what the lodging felt like. We were put in a cabin that adjoined to another apt, where we could hear everything that neighbors did. When they opened their door the in between door rattled. The bathroom light was on a timer and the heat didn't work very well. We did finally receive our luggage and an apology, but this was undo stress that wasn't necessary. The staff at the River's Edge was not knowledgeable or helpful and seemed to have a bit of an attitude. I'm thankful that this terrible motel was at the end of our trip and not the beginning. I would hope that you contract with a better company in the future as this is a reflection on NCL.

The cabin was a bit small, to be expected. The bathroom was very small and the shower was almost impossible to shower in without getting the entire bathroom wet.
