Chose the Regatta / Oceania cruise because of the date and destination; my dear mother has always wanted to go on an Alaska cruise, so I treated her to her first cruise.
Oceania's Regatta is a lovely, smaller ship (650+ passengers, 400 crew), so we didn't feel lost, yet could have "alone" and quiet time if we desired. Food was great, although for vegetarians we had somewhat of a limited menu. With food comes the desire to exercise, and the small gym was very adequate, and when it first opened at 0600 in the morning, it was not busy at all.
Entertainment in the evenings was great -- we enjoyed the stand-up comedian, the ventriloquist and the sing/dance troupe. Well done, entertaining, and for those wishing to spend time at a bar or do a little gambling, that was available as well.
