Sail Date: May 2016
Cabin: Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

I chose this cruise for two (2) reasons: First, it sailed out of San Juan where I could meet up with my Mom who lives there. And secondly, the Itinerary.

However, having sailed out of San Juan on numerous occasions; it was not as pleasant as sailing out of Old San Juan (OSJ) RCCL sails out of Pan Am Pier which is approximately 2 miles from OSJ and there is nothing to do in the port area unless you take a taxi into OSJ.

This was our first time with RCCL, which as I stated I chose due to the Itinerary (San Juan/St. Maarten/Aruba/Bonair and Curacao and back to San Juan)

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D3

Great cabin. Nice and roomy. However, no special amenities. None. No robes; no slippers; no ice bucket. Nothing. We had to ask for ice bucket every day, every day. You would think our cabin steward would know by Day 3 that we liked ice. Robes: We've always had robes in our balcony cabins; was advised by Guest Services they only supply them for Suites; Guest services called Housekeeping to supply as a "comp" because we were first time cruisers with RCCL - never showed up. Oh well.

And last but not least, the smell as previously mentioned. The bathroom smelled awful throughout the week. It was a toss up regarding leaving the door open to air it and have the smell come into the cabin.. so we decided not to do this. Just dealt with it.

Otherwise, nice space.

Port Reviews

San Juan

What can I say? San Juan is amazing!! So much to see. So beautiful.

St. Maarten

Truly my favorite Island. It's so beautiful. Beach is right there. Shops are great. Especially Rama's right near the beach next to the new McDonald soft serve. He is truly an asset to St. Maarten. Honest as they come. Several years ago on a girl cruise I left my 1200.00 Canon camera on top of all the t-shirts at his store. Went crazy when I realized I didn't have my camera and could not remember where I left it. I retraced my steps and stopped at his store to ask if he'd seen a camera. He smiled and pulled it out from behind the counter. Needless to say, I ran behind the counter and gave him the biggest hug. Since then, I've been to St. Maarten three times and he remembers me. I always buy something at his store, reasonable prices and great products!!
