The Celebrity Solstice is one of our favorite cruise ships. The natural grass on the top deck is great for lounging, picnicking, or staring at glaciers! This cruise was round-trip Seattle, which saved a great deal as opposed to flying in and out of Vancouver because the added Canadian taxes are expensive. We enjoyed Seattle one entire day in advance and stayed at the Kimpton Monaco Hotel, which is convenient to downtown and Pike's Place. On board the Solstice, we stayed in a Concierge Class Balcony, which was very comfortable. The dining and entertainment were excellent! All the ports were interesting and the weather was perfect - we avoided any rainy days. We especially liked the way the captain approached Glacier Bay and just stopped for a while so all passengers could take in the overwhelming views and the quietness. This ship is too big to get very close to the glaciers, but the captain was expert at getting in and slowly turning around to get out. We did not take any excursions this time, but we did take a local bus in Victoria to get into town for a beer at our favorite pub. The only downside happened when we got back to Seattle and got off the ship to claim our check baggage. The ground staff did not check IDs as people walked off with bags, and one of ours disappeared. The jerk that took it was dumb enough to leave behind his bag, which had his cell phone number on it. When we called him he was already on the bus, ready to leave the port. He was not even apologetic, but at least we got the bag back.

Concierge Class 2

We always appreciate the bottle of champagne or sparkling white wine that greets us. The complementary tote bag is always appreciated.

Port Reviews

Seattle

We did not appreciate the summer crowds at Pike's Place Market, but loved the Copacabana Restaurant that overlooks it from an open deck.
