Ovation of the Seas Cruise Review by Chiquitamar
- Sail Date: May 2016
- Destination: Europe
We had a balcony cabin and the cabin was comfortable and has lots of storage space. The usual toiletries that you expect on a ship were missing. We had to ask if we could have tissues and a shower cap.
The food overall was OK. The big difference is that there is no central dining room. We like the anytime dining and they way you have to do it here, making reservations ahead of time for the 4 or 5 "free" restaurants on board, defeats the purpose. Came to find out that all the Quantum class ships are like this. Not a fan. The menus for a short cruise would have been OK but in 25 days there was not much variation. Ended up having dinner a the buffet most of the time. On that subject, the buffet closes at 9:00 pm. Weird....
The entertainment has mixed reviews as well. They had two and then three shows that you had to make reservations for. We did not care for The Dream but a lot of people we talked to did like it. The others were OK. They had different entertainers come on board throughout the voyage and some were good and some not so much. As always, that is a matter of preference. The 270 room is high tech and very nice, however, the seating is uncomfortable and arranged in such a way that you cannot see the stage from many seats. Not the best place to see the shows and there are a lot of activities in this venue. They had afternoon movies but the glare was too much and made it hard to see the movies.
The service throughout the ship was excellent. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful.
The ports were varied and always fun. Ending up in Dubai was the highlight of the cruise as that is some city!

Petra Walking TourThe tour company picked us up and took 2 hours to get to Petra. Magnificent place. Lots of walking. Could had ridden a donkey or a little buggy but they went so fast, you could not have seen much. Were supposed to also go to Wadi Rum but due to an accident on the road that delayed us a whole hour we could not go to Wadi Rum. Had lunch in a local restaurant that was better than expected.View All 77 Petra Walking Tour Reviews
Rock of GibraltarIt was a minibus (maybe 8-10 people) and it took us all the way to the top. We saw the caves, the tunnels and the monkey. It was raining a lot but it was still OK. It was a Sunday and the town pretty much was cosed.View All 96 Rock of Gibraltar Reviews
