Sail Date: Jun 2016

Our group of friends wanted to visit Canada and New England and these dates worked best for us. Having never sailed on Holland America, I was interested to compare a smaller ship to the larger ones that I have been on.

Embarkation in Montreal was very easy....we were in our cabins quickly and headed up to the Lido for lunch.

As on all cruises, the mandatory Muster Drill takes place almost immediately after all are on board. However, the last 8 cruises we have been in a lounge either watching a video or listening to a crew member about the emergency scenario. On this ship we were outside standing for about 30 min. Some of the older folks on the cruise had real problems doing this. NO other ship does this as far as I know.

Port Reviews

Sydney (Nova Scotia)

The weather was cold and rainy. Didn't venture past the terminal.

Halifax

We walked around independently. Had hoped for carriage tour but no availability.

Boston

We spent two nights in Boston and took a Duck Tour which was lots of fun. Explored the city on our own.

Stayed at the Lenox Hotel, which I highly recommend.
