Excellent time on the Alaska Cruise. The staff, Captain and crew were wonderful. The ship is in good shape. The cabins are nice and clean. We were deck 11 midship and the location was perfect. An easy walk up to the outside deck, restaurant for snacks and a quick down the stairs to deck 5 and 4. Jayson was our room steward and always greeted us with a smile. He would even open our door for us when he saw us walking towards our cabin. A nice treat. While we were sailing, the health department gave the ship a 100% review and it was well deserved. We ate most of our meals in Blue. The service was lovely. It was a quiet and calm dining room. One night we ate with the Crew Captain in Silk Harvest which was an unexpected treat, thank you Dee Wright for the invitation from the Captain's Club.
We enjoyed our days at Sea and spent lots of time walking around, sitting on the outside lower deck, enjoying the views and the sea life. The Captain was excellent and also a comedian with impeccable timing, his daily greetings were a hoot. His first hand presentation of the building of Solstice was wonderful and insightful. One of our favorite spots is the 14th floor dance club with incredible windows at the front of the boat...sometimes it was closed for private parties. All in all it was a great, relaxing cruise. Well done Captain, Staff and Crew of Solstice.
Perfect Midship location.
Walked around the town and went to the new Alaska Museum which had opened that day...a very nice exhibit.
Listened to the Ranger tour and then took the shuttle to the Graveyard and the Falls. It was a half mile walk from the bus stop to the graveyard and then a short walk uphill to the amazing falls. It was lovely and a nice break from large crowds.
Having been to Victoria, it was a bummer that we arrived so late and most things were closed. We did the walkway to the lighthouse which is right near where the ship docks. It was a nice long walk our to the lighthouse and the birds and fishermen were fun to watch...also watched the sunset from the end.
Walked Pikes Market, then walked to the Chihuly Glass Museum. It was spectacular
and inspiring. We had a ticket that allowed us to do the museum and then we went to the top of the Needle. It was a wonderfully clear day to see the views in all directions.
