We've done many river cruises, and this one was selected to suit our group of eight, so picking an area that everyone wanted to see with a start/end in Paris to enable individual pre-cruise and post-cruise travel plans. We've been with AMA before and had been quite impressed with how they handled our Danube cruise a couple of years ago when the Danube flooded and we couldn't get to Budapest, our end point, on the river. No way could we have anticipated another flooding, this time of the Seine, but AMA and the entire AmaLegro team rose to the occasion magnificently. Everyone had to be rerouted to join the boat at Rouen and then again to leave the boat at Rouen. Many of the places we had planned to visit were much harder to get to because of the limited docking options on the river and because some of the tourist sights were themselves under water. But here too AMA and the AmaLegro team rearranged things to ensure that we had good, if sometimes different, touring options each day, that the critical tour to the Normandy Beaches on DDay went as planned, and that we were all kept as well-informed as possible given how quickly things were changing. Our whole group were really impressed with how well AMA handled everything, and we're looking forward to our next cruise with them. There's an old sailor's expression: anyone can man the helm when the seas are calm. Since all travel is adventure travel, you need a cruise line and team which can handle all the vagaries of travel while keeping to the high standards of accommodation, catering and touring which their guests expect.

Cabin Review

Stateroom with French Balcony

Comfortable with a good desk (I'm a writer, among other things) and decent wifi included. Comfortable beds, great bathroom, and plenty of storage space even for a couple like us traveling for 2+ weeks before and after the cruise.
