We are experienced cruisers (20 on Princess) and were asked by our son to do this Disney cruise with his family. I admit that I was skeptical and wondered how this cruise line would measure up with the Princess cruises we've done and loved. I was very, very wrong to be skeptical because as of the embarkation process I could see we were in for a real treat. The Disney Fantasy and its crew were excellent in every category. We loved the inter generational experience. There were activities for all ages, including some just for the over age 18 crowd. By the end of the week, my husband and I decided we'd be happy cruising with Disney even if we didn't have family along.
Embarkation was smooth and easy. We were on the ship and headed up to Cabanas buffet by 11:30 a.m. We found the food selection in Cabanas excellent and varied. The peel and eat shrimp was a special treat each day! We did have to get our own drinks (servers do not offer sodas, water, coffee, etc.) but we found we enjoyed filling up our cups and glasses anytime we wanted to. Servers in the buffet did do a great job of keeping the tables bused and clean. There were many larger tables for larger groups.
We were able to go to our stateroom at 1:30 pm and were immediately greeted by our steward, Marlon, who is a great example of someone who loves his job and does it very well. Our room was immaculate and everything was in working order.. Marlon learned our schedule immediately and he was always available if we had questions or needs. The towel animals always made us smile!
Great cabin location near aft elevators. Closest laundry room is on Deck 8 below our room. Room was quiet and well appointed. Very good amount of storage and closet space. Small TV. Refrigerator. Tub/shower combo and separate toilet room.
