Cabin: Balcony Stateroom

We were very pleased with our first MSC Cruise so we decided to Cruise with them again . Our ship was the MSC Proezia one of the newest MSC Ships . We chose a balcony stateroom on the 11th deck . The room was typically small but no smaller than any other cruise line , it was well appointed and comfortable . The passengers were a real mix of ages and nationalities , lots of Italian , German and French .

MSC has assigned dinner seating and we were seated with 5 other Canadians and we all bonded very quickly . MSC has been unreasonably rated poorly for its food . Nothing could be further from the truth . Every night we had a six or 7 course meal . The portions were European sized which means they were smaller than you would see on other Cruise ships catering to mainly Americans . The food was fresh Mediterreanean type meals with lots of fish and seafood along with pasta and risotto and salads . Very delicious and nutritious as well. . The food was the best We have had on any cruise . For those who want quantity there is always the buffet which was no better or worse than any other ship we have been on.

The service was also very good . We really enjoyed the nightly entertainment , very professional, kind of Circ de Soleil lite . The only complaint we had was that the shows were too short .

Cabin B3

Very comfortable , well appointed cabin , a little on the small side but large enough for 2 people .

Port Reviews

Palermo (Sicily)

Took the Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour which was ok but nothing special

Malta (Valletta)

We took a taxi to Medina , very historical and beautiful , the cathedral is worth a visit

Valencia

Took the Hop On Hop Off Tour total waste of time and money , City Center worth a visit .

Marseille

Chose not to take the Hop On Hop Off Bus , took a taxi to town Center and Old Port Area , had lunch in a quaint sea side restaurant , the food was excellent but not cheap .

Genoa

This was the one Hop On Hop Off Tour that was worth the time a money . Walked around the old port area and visited the Aquarium , expensive but very entertaining .

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We chose to do our own thing in Rome , visited Vatican City toured the museum , the Sistine Chapel and St Peters , incredible .
