We have sailed approximately 10-12 times with RCCI. We are diamond members. Some of those cruises have been with our young adult children and some alone. This trip, it was just the two of us. We believe we are seasoned and experienced RCCI travelers. We have also sailed on several other cruise lines. Up until this cruise, we have always felt like RCCI was a nice combination of quality and value. I will start off by saying, I believe we will chose another line for our next cruise. Our status with RCCI no longer matters to us.
The Pros of Allure:
It is a beautiful ship, although showing wear due to poor maintenance. There are plenty of activities for all ages. Even though the ship is massive they do a good job of getting everyone on and everyone off in a timely manner. The waiters in the main dining room were very polite as was the room steward. Comedians in Comedy Show were hysterical. Singers in Moma Mia were very talented. That's it.
It was ok - plenty of room, nice bathroom with two sinks. Bed was awful. Linens not good. Definetly not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination but the space was good. One electrical outlet in bedroom. That's it.
Grabbed a cab - easy and plentiful. Went to Orient Beach to the Bikini Beach Club. Great place. Nice chairs and umbrellas, food and drink. Great place. Cheap. $20
Grabbed a taxi to main shopping area. Shopped at Ballerina Jewelers. The most amazing customer service and prices that will knock you over. Great place.
Only there for a few hours. Scary place.
We stayed the night before our cruise at the Ritz Carlton. The place has really gone downhill. Wouldn't do that again.
