My wife was graduating nursing school and my youngest had just turned 5 so we decided it was time for a big celebration. We decided to do Disney Dream over Royal Caribbean because we heard there was more for the kids with Disney. My son turned 9 during the cruise and my daughter is 5. The 4 of us stayed in one cabin comfortably. The couch pulls out into a bed and there is another bed that drops down from the ceiling to create a bunk bed type situation. There was also a curtain to separate their side from ours. There are two separate bathrooms; one with the toilet and sink and another with the shower and sink.
There was so much to do on the ship which was great! We were sort of conflicted between just relaxing in the room and decompressing from the everyday run-around of life versus trying to catch all of the "can't miss" shows and attractions of the ship. The good thing is you have that option depending on what kind of vacation you need. The kids enjoyed the Oceaneer club and Oceaneer Lab so much that they never wanted to leave. My wife and I were able to enjoy some time to ourselves including a 2-hour massage and mixology drink instruction.
The one thing I did not like was the guide to the excursion at the Bahamas. Were gathered at a location on the boat but once we got off the boat and were given our wrist bands, we were told to just "follow the crowd" to the shuttles. Well "the crowd was three people who were about 50 yards ahead of us already. We got lost and almost ended up in town alone. We were able to ask around and barely catch the shuttle to the excursion.
