Our favorite vacation is a Carnival cruise so we decided that's how we'd spend our 25th wedding anniversary. We can drive to Galveston in a couple days so we wanted to go out of that port. We chose this particular cruise because the diving in Cozumel is generally wonderful and my husband has never been to Progresso.
The cruise director told us that the only reason the ships go to Progresso is its proximity to Chichen Itza. Since we've seen all the Mayan ruins we care to we stayed on the ship that day, so my husband STILL hasn't been to Progresso! lol
We stayed in cabin 7268 - our first time in a suite. Tons of storage, much more than we needed on a 5 night cruise but would have been handy on the 11 day journey we did in January. We received an upgrade offer from Carnival so we didn't get to pick the room. If you're someone who likes to retire early or spend much time in the cabin this room is in a terrible location. Right next to the atrium so all the sounds from the games and the music and the blenders can be heard in this room.
Tons of storage. 2 complete closets, one located near the bed and the other located in the dressing area. At least 8 drawers scattered about. 3 nightstands. 2 corner cabinets and a refrigerator. Jetted tub/shower in the bathroom. Would easily accommodate 3 people. The only reason I would never book this cabin again is its close proximity to the atrium. Lots of noise.
There are some very unique shops a short drive from the port. Could have easily spent a day there.
Debarkation day it was pouring rain and the streets were flooded. DH walked in knee-deep water to get to our car. We felt very lucky that the engine didn't stall as we were driving to the highway...many others were not so fortunate.
