We have cruised the Getaway before. There was a little physical issue in our lives and we wanted to go on a ship we were familiar with and the ports were not too far from the US. We booked the Haven category and had an ADA room. The boarding was smooth and we were escorted to the Haven around 11:30 AM. There the Concierge welcomed all and gave us some information, especially about the first day and what was available. The Haven Bar was open upon boarding and lunch was available at noon. Substantial "snacks" were being presented by servers walking around the Haven sitting area and bar. The rooms were soon available and we found our room comfortable, clean, beautiful flower bouquet of flowers waiting and a bottle of "bubbly" :-) We met our Butler and Cabin Steward, both were super friendly and throughout the cruise were exactly what was needed as far as service and visibility. There are numerous amenities available just for the Haven guests but suggest you check the NCL site if you are interested in the Haven and it will be a "first time" experience. The one thing we always suggest to new cruisers, read the daily paper printed by the ship, get a copy of the ship layout either at time of boarding or, in the Haven case, from the Concierge. The live music on the Getaway is fabulous, they have excellent comedy shows and also an magic show and wine "play". All worth seeing if you are interested in the subject.. If in the Haven your Concierge will handle all bookings, if not you can book before you board, on the TV in your stateroom or there is a booking agent near Guest Services. We have eaten in all the Specialty restaurants and recommend you book all or those that entice your palate. The "Burn the Floor" show presented during dinner in the Tropicana is our favorite "dining" experience. We have seen the show while having dinner several and have never been disappointed. We have also eaten in all the non-fee restaurants, just for the experience, and have never had a meal we did not enjoy. The Casino is filled with wonderful hosts, bar service personnel and service staff. We frequent Las Vegas and find the Getaway Casino a fun place with plenty of gaming opportunities. As to Ports, I suggest you use tours offered by the ship. The Staff are very knowledgeable and give good suggestions/advice. We have gone to each of the ports many time and they each have charm and at least "one" special attraction that might interest "almost" anyone. The highlight of the entire area is the beauty of the water/ocean. Breathtaking and "demands" lots of photo's be taken. Before you board you can, again, check out the NCL site for detail information that will aid your "personal" decisions... suited to your family/group and to your personal preferences. Our final comment is that this ship has the most awesome Officers, Staff and Crew. We do recommend you attend the Meet and Greet that is arranged with NCL by a cruise critic member. It is generally on the first sea day around 10 or 11 AM. Light refreshments are served and you will be very impressed with the number of the Officers and Staff representing the Hotel Division of the Getaway. If you have any questions or comments they are super friendly and helpful. Disembarking is very organized. We have never had more than a 45 minute "experience" from the time we decide to leave until we are through Customs. And that includes being in the Haven or in a regular room anywhere on the ship. In closure, we had and have had a wonderful experience on this ship many times. We hope this might help you as you make your plans.

Cabin Review

The Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony
Cabin H5
Handled a wheel chair very well. Plenty of closet, drawer and shelf room. Large bath with stand up shower, a full sized tub, and large enough to move in to the bathroom with a wheelchair. Small, but nice balcony. A large window. Couch, Chair and a seating arrangement with a table that could be moved back and forth or completely removed. Table with three chairs. Coffee service.
