Just finished a nice cruise to Amber Cove, Dominican Republic & Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos. The Ship has been recently in dry dock and the upgrades are nice. Guy's Burger Joint was delicious. The adults only area of the ship was peaceful and not crowded, with nice views of the surrounding sea. I took a cab from Amber Cove ($50.00) negotiated down from $80.00. The driver stays with you the entire day, which gave me a more secure feeling as the DR has a high crime rate. We drove approximately 4 miles to a shabby beach club. I asked the driver for a little more resort like beach, and he drove me back towards the port to a nicer beach club. There was a wind which made the day cooler and enjoyable. The beach was a very sad experience, as I approached the water a diaper washed up on the beach. Upon closer examination I noticed all kinds of plastic trash in the water. I turned around to go the other direction in hopes it would get better. I sarcastically thought to myself, " next a syringe", and in a few more steps there it was. I don't know if the wind carried all this into shore or if it is like this all the time. I returned to Amber Cove for the rest of the afternoon and had a nice time. Grand Turk was great and beautiful as always.
Nice and roomy. Cabin was well maintained with no issues. Large balcony and plenty of closet space.
Enjoyed Amber Cove, would not leave port again. Not impressed with town and the surf littered with plastic trash.
The pier makes it easy and the beach club is great with large pool, restaurants, & shopping. The beach is clean and the clear turquoise water inviting.
Easy on and off. Seamless vacation.
