Having done much research we picked Celebrity on recommendation and website reviews and we were not disappointed.
Whilst the ship was a little dated in some areas and will be undergoing refurbishment next year, it was very comfortable and spacious everywhere.
The service from stateroom attendant to Senior Officers that we came in contact with did everything to ensure our satisfaction and comfort, nothing was too much trouble.
The inside cabin was lovely with plenty of storage and the bathroom was equally well planned.
The main restaurant was excellent although with such a large number of people, it was noisy. The waiters were attentive and obliging. Although we originally requested anytime dining, we were not able to have it, ( something to do with not receiving confirmation when booking? ) but the Maitre'D did oblige when we wanted to have a later sitting.
The buffet restaurant on deck 10 offered every type of food going, Asian, sushi, grills while you wait ( excellent steaks), eggs cooked as you wanted, salads, and that is breakfast too!
The nightly shows were superb, I knew they had to be good, but never thought they would be so professional and first class. We had three shows where they brought in entertainers that were apparently well-known, but not to us.
The security when boarding each time was excellent, same as in an airport but much quicker. Always a smile and a welcome back from the crew. Embarkation on the first day was smooth and quick and disembarkation on the final day was well organised.
A couple of disappointments......the organised daytime activities were lacking, there was no pre port of call briefing as to what to do, where to go, how to etc. They plugged their own trips of course but it would have been useful to have had information for those who wanted to be independent. We did our own research before leaving home and spent some good days in port without having to spend the ridiculous amounts the cruise lines charge.
Major dislikes..........the piped music in the buffet restaurant and outside areas was imposing instead of being background. The choice of music was ridiculous...in the mornings one does not want screechy pop, round the pool areas it was noisy music. The ship has no control over the selection, it is given the music and that is it.
Overall, we were very happy and certainly go Celebrity again but will try another line first to get a comparison.
The inside cabin was lovely with plenty of storage and the bathroom was equally well planned. Heating/Aircon very efficient, but it was on permanently.
A safe was provided.
Bed very comfortable, lighting good.
Venice is a wonderful magical city. Just need a day or two to explore and get lost. A day trip on the ferry to Burano, Murano and Torcello is a must.
We did a hop on hop off trip but nothing sticks out that is memorable.
A visit to the Sea Organ is a must.
We wandered around the old city which was interesting, but unfortunately the weather spoilt it that morning.
A very busy noisy place but lovely to stroll around.
We did a hop on hop off trip and a walking tour but again the weather was lousy. The scenery around was magnificent. The local guide was superb.
