I always wanted to see Norway and this cruise suited my price range. Having cruised on several different cruise lines and living in southern Europe, we are more used to Italian or American cruise ships with a mixture of nationalities. After booking, l read several mixed reviews on Megellan and CMV, and was not expecting great things from the actual ship, but was very pleasantly surprised.
Embarkation was quick and efficient in Tilbury and for the first time our suitcases were by our room before us. Our cabin was very large, probably used as a family cabin before, and chosen for that reason. The bathroom did not have much storage space but the shower was the best l have ever known. Electrical sockets were Italian but advertised as English, and there are no fridges in the cabins which is not ideal. Plenty of shortage space and hangers though. Everything was several floors up but exercising on the staircases is much needed on a cruise!
The food and service in the restaurant were excellent, again one of the best we have experienced, and most the people and staff on board were so friendly and chatty, we soon made lots of friends. The entertainment was more than adequate for a smaller ship and the singers and dancers worked very hard all week and were much appreciated.
Chosen for being larger on the deck plan and at the front of the ship, we actually had 2 cabins, one with a sofa, bunk bed, wardrobes and TV, door through to sleeping cabin and door through to bathroom. But very small portholes only with little view, and it seemed dark when entering our cabin. No curtains or blackout blinds which in Norway in May is needed for sleeping as nearly always daylight.
