I could not have been more pleased with my cruise from Nuremberg to Budapest on the Scenic Amber. I have taken ocean cruises before, but this was my first river cruise. Everything from beginning to end was lovely.

Embarkation was a breeze -- the Scenic representative met us at the airport and drove us to the ship. Our luggage got to our cabin before we did. Everything about the ship was beautiful -- clean crisp modern. The cabins were compact but beautifully laid out with a surprising amount of storage. The bathroom was large for a ship. The balcony was really an extension of the room with an exterior glass wall that could be opened for fresh air or closed in cool weather.

Service was spectacular -- every room had a butler on call, the desk and cruise director were very attentive, and the lounge/dining room staff were superior. We never wanted for anything. The setting is more intimate than an ocean cruise, and many of the staff learned our names. Read more
