My first and last with Royal Caribbean. In addition to all of the problems mentioned in the previous posts, most of which we experienced, there were more. Our shower only had scalding hot water. Other passengers said they only had cold. Thermostat was not working in room, but had a blinking green light going all night. I had reserved wheelchair service for boarding and leaving the ship, requested a month before departure. When I tried to verify with guest services that I would have it for leaving, they said the 4 wheelchairs were going to be first come, first serve. On a plus note, wheelchair service and embarkation went smoothly, as anticipated.
I have cruised many times, and prefer smaller ships. I had expected that on sea days, there would be lectures, games, trivia contests, crew talks, etc. Holland America and Princess know how to keep passengers actively engaged if that is their preference. The only activity seemed to be hanging around the pool.
We went on the spa tour, expecting to find a thermal pool (even small ships usually have those), as one was listed on the spa menu. We were 4 women friends traveling together and expecting to spend time in the spa. Massage table was too small, and I managed to fall off while turning over. Massage therapist said it was too small for her and she had a request in for a larger one. That was nothing compared to one friends' experience. The poolside band was on the other side of the wall from massage room, and therapist had a difficult time not keeping time to music as she massaged. How relaxing is that?
shuttle driver found wheelchair assistant, and they had my name on their list of passengers who had requested wheelchairs. They were efficient and thorough and my companions and I boarded quickly.
We thought we would get off the tenders and wander down to beach area. Didn't know they had turned this port into Brand Cayman.
We got off ship, took Town Trolley tour and had conch fritters lunch. Didn't need to sign up for excursion to do this, as pier is in Old Town.
