We were extremely disappointed with the NCL jewel and NCL in general. My wife and I recently completed our ninth cruise with NCL onboard the Norwegian Jewel.

The main dining room service has become slow and unprofessional. Eating breakfast or lunch in the main dining room normally requires over one hour. It may be because the wait staff no longer cares. After all, the evaluation cards that once were on all tables have been eliminated and the tip is automatic.

The focus seems to have shifted away from growing a business through satisfied customers. I remember when the specialty restaurants were truly reasonably priced and an outstanding dining experience. They now cost more and provide less. The focus seems to have shifted to selling or promoting services and events that require some sort of charge. Be it pull tabs, the spa, wine tasting, bingo or whatever, the emphasis is on making money.
