Just a very short review of our trip on Majesty last week.
We got to the port on Monday about 11 am, and dropped the truck at the Park and Cruise, hopped the shuttle and were there in just a few minutes. Embarkation was simple and fast, and we were actually on board the ship at about noon time. The ship was FULL for this trip, so there were plenty of people around. Went up to the Windjammer and had something to eat. Here is where the thread for the review appears, all the food in the Windjammer was about lukewarm. We tried several things, and then when 1pm arrived, went down to find the cabin which was near the waterline on deck 2.
I hadn't been looking for a cruise in May, but got a mailing late last year that had some EXCELLENT prices for this cruise. Because of that I booked the cheapest outside cabin I could find, and even with the low price, got a $200 cabin credit for us to share. I have to say after years of cruising with balcony cabins, I was a bit surprised when we walked into the cabin to find 1) a bathroom, 2) a closet, 3) a bed, 4) a desk and a (very) small TV mounted on the wall. No place to sit except a desk chair, and the bed.... no sofa, no real chair....
The cabin was small, and well worn with hard beds. The safe worked fine, the very small shower was just big enough for this big guy, the carpet was worn but serviceable, the cabin steward was willing to do most anything we asked him.
I really like Port Canaveral. It's a two hour trip from our house, easy to get in and out of without driving through a major metro area. Parking is fairly cheap, and getting on and off the ship is straightforward and smooth
Always plenty to do in Nassau. The guys on the street get a little pushy at times, but I always give them a polite NO and move on my way. Pirate Republic Brewing is two blocks from the pier gate and is making some good craft brewed beers. Worth the stop.
