We have just returned from Indy's first 14 night med cruise from Southampton, which we enjoyed enormously. We are English but have previously sailed on her sister ship, Freedom of the Seas out of Port Canaverel on a 7 night Caribbean crossing.

Our first impressions of Indy were that she is a stunning ship with a real wow factor, just like her sister. Although she is now 8 years old, her public areas are in immaculate condition. There was also real attention on this ship to cleanliness with hand santitizers everywhere and reminders from the staff at Windjammer to cleanse those hands! We did not mind as there was no norovirus on this ship or fear of it! The ship was at full capacity when we sailed, so there were times when the main promenade was crowded and it was difficult to get a seat in any of the venues for a drink. This is to be expected but was frustrating at times. The shops on the Promenade sold mainly jewellery, watches and handbags. We were desperate to find basics like shampoo and toothpaste. It wasn't until the thirteenth day of our cruise that we found these - tucked at the back and side of the shop selling all the duty free alcohol.

The most impressive thing about this cruise was the entertainment - that was worth the ticket price alone! The two ice shows were spectacular and although you had to queue for tickets for these on board, they were easy to obtain. There was a different show every night in the theatre and the standard of these shows was on a par with the West End. We had a wonderful comedian/juggler on a unicycle; Graffitti Classics - an exceptionally good and funny classical music band; a concert pianist who played his music to a backdrop of different films; a finalist on The Voice who sang beautifully, Darren Day {who was really good} and the Royal Carribbean singers and dancers to name just a few. In addition, there was a parade on the Royal Promenade on the first sailing and two late night parties. In the day, there were movies in the theatre and on the pool deck. We also had the Love and Marriage game show; The Quest and Battle of the Sexes (all hilarious). There were bands playing throughout the ship and quizzes in the Pyramid lounge most nights. There was even the opportunity to learn and perform the Thriller dance - great fun. There was a great party vibe on this ship and no excuse not to have lots of fun.

Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

Very clean - decor a little dated now. Plenty of storage space, reasonably spacious

Port Reviews

Seville

Walk to town from ship. Beautiful town; nice beaches; gardens.

Malaga

Malaga is beautiful - you can walk to town from the ship.

Valencia

Taxi to the oceanographic museum. Valencia town looked quite ugly to us. Worth visiting for the City of Arts and Sciences museum complex.

Nice

We took a hop on hop off bus tour of this beautiful city. Very accessible from ship if docked in nice.

Barcelona

Get the shuttle bus into Las Ramblas. You can take a tube to Segrada from there or access the gothic quarter very easily. A beautiful city.

Gibraltar

Do not take the cable car to the rock - it does not go anywhere. Take a taxi for an extensive rock tour. You can walk into town from the ship to access the shops - go through the gates at Casemates Square and the town centre is accessible from there. 20 mins walk from ship approx.

Southampton

Embarkation went smoothly and was excellent.
