  3. Carnival Vista
This was our tenth cruise but first Carnival cruise and first med cruise. We chose this one because it had all the ports we wanted to visit and couldn't resist that it was a brand new ship! We have cruised with Celebrity, Princess and MSC over the past few years. We arrived early morning on embarkation day and had arranged a four hour tour of Barcelona with a drop off at the ship following the tour. Embarkation took about an hour as they were backed up by 2-3:00 in the afternoon. Our balcony cabin 8392 was lovely. Standard and comparable to other balcony rooms on other cruise ships. The bed was very comfortable with fresh, crisp, new linens and new thick bath towels. The bathroom was stocked with low quality shampoo and body wash which I only used once. There was a new large flat screen TV across from the bed. I wish they would have offered music options on the TV. The slamming of the balcony doors was a problem. If you weren't thinking to ease the door closed, it slammed loudly. I like the sliding balcony doors better myself. The cabin steward did a lovely job of keeping our room clean. We ate in the MDR, late seating for all dinners except one at the Italian Restaurant. The service in the MDR was great! Our waiter Goran, was the best we've ever had in the main dining room on any cruise ship. The food in the MDR was generally very good - no complaints but some selections were better than others. We had room service for breakfast on early port days. It was prompt but something was always missing. Cereal bowls were missing one day, spoons missing another. Both the buffet and the dining room were sufficient for breakfast. Dining room was a little slow but service was generally good as was the coffee. The food in the Italian restaurant was very good to excellent. The entertainment on this ship was excellent. Almost every night we attended the comedy show after dinner. The comedians were top quality - or got a giggle out of us! Attended one show in the Liquid lounge which was also excellent- American Rock n Roll or something was the title. The seating in this lounge is strange and not very good but the sound system is great. Bar service around the ship was a little slow. Maybe they were understaffed or just learning the ropes, but you always had to wait for the bartender or waiter to acknowledge you a little longer than normal. The Carnival Hub was a wonderful little tool of information and communication. Definitely worthing getting as well and the internet for social media. Overall, we all really enjoyed our cruise. The new ship Carnival Vista is lovely and I would definitely recommend it and would take this cruise again. The Vista never felt crowded with the exception of the elevators. We could always get a seat at the pool or in any bar we went to. The service in general was terrific and we had no real complaints about anything. Disembarkation went well. We walked off the ship later than the appointed time, our luggage was there, we picked it up and took a taxi to the airport. Ports: Barcelona: We did a private tour with Barcelona City tours from the airport with a drop off at the port. It was a good opportunity to see the city before embarkation. Marseille: Again, we did a private tour from Viator of Marseille and Cassis. It was perfect! our driver took us to see the highlights of Marseille and stopped for many photo ops and on to Cassis where we had lunch and free time to walk around the village. Livorno - A private tour with Italytours.eu to Florence and Pisa. We had a guide for our tour in Florence. Had a lovely lunch in an outdoor cafe followed by shopping. Great place for shopping! We got some great deals on everything leather. After Florence, we drove to Pisa and spent about 45 minutes taking pics and walking around before returning to the ship. Cvittevechia - The was our "Rome" day. We had a private tour with Rome in a Limo for 8 people. Our driver, Rolando, was amazing! We saw the Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, Colliseum before lunch. He took us for an awesome lunch at a cafe near the Vatican where our tour guide met us and we then walked to the Vatican for our tour including the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica. Fantastic day! Naples - Private tour group Italytours.eu to Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. Another great day. Don't miss Sorrento and Positano they are so beautiful! Travelling down the Amalfi coast is the best drive you will ever experience. This is a must do! Kusadasi - We did the ship's tour: House of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Ancient Ephesus. It rained the morning we were on this tour. The house of Mary was a very unique experience. It meant a lot to me personally. Ancient Ephesus was great too. We did the ship tour due to the unrest in the area but in hindsight I would do a private tour next time. I like to stop for photo ops and you simply can't with a large bus of people. Athens - Private tour of Athens with 12 people. We did the Acropolis and saw all the sights of Athens with a driver and guide. Very reasonably priced and time well spent.

A Great Experience on the Vista
