Boarding was typical, but I am disabled and use a mobility scooter. However, the staff could not have been more accommodating. Once on board, the ship had a bit of a funky smell, but air freshener was. release shortly thereafter, and I had my travel size Febreeze with me to counteract any foul odors in the cabin. I booked a disabled cabin and had been used to booking a balcony on decks 6 and 7. However, this cruise, the only available disabled cabins were inside cabins with a picture window in the bow. I booked my 94 year old mother and her CNA in disabled cabin 6205 on the Upper deck and my sister and I in cabin 10-02 on the Panorama deck. I was skeptical about being so high up on deck 10, but we sailed through a terrible thunder storm one evening, and the ship barely rocked. I will definitely consider the Panorama deck in the future. The Panorama deck is a very short deck, so it was a short walk to the Triton pool and a jacuzzi. I was in a party of 2, but the cabin could accommodate 4 people. It was very spacious and included a full-sized sofa.. I had a beautiful view of the ocean and there was a door nearby which led to a small deck ion the bow of the ship.
Our cabin steward was average, but when one finds staff such as this, one needs to be proactive and ask for what one needs. She complied with all of my request.s I had the early seating in the Atlantic dining room. I had only one bad entree during the entire cruise; which was the prime rib on the last evening. Whether I ate in the dining room for dinner or the buffet for lunch, I found the entrees to to be of quality ingredients. Throughout the cruise, I ate lobster tails, leg of lamb, roast pork loin, beef stroganoff, flat iron steak, and more. Each piece of meat was tender and contained minimal fat. I told my travel companion what I thought of the meals, and I maintained, "so Carnival doesn't serve Beef Wellington or Chateaubriand, but the quality can be found in the food." Lo and behold, that evening Chateaubriand was on the dinner menu. I ordered it, and it was as tasty and tender as a finest fillet mignon. My waiter Herculean, head waiter Joel, and the dining room maitre'd were superb. I don't know the spelling of the maitre'd, but he circulated the dining room and visited each an every table during every meal to be sure that the guests meals were satisfactory. I saw 3 shows and the 2 with the Carnival singers and dancers were spectacular. The dancers were professional and the costuming was magnificent. I attended one comedy show and found the comedian to be fair. If one sails on the Victory, be sure to stop by the Irish Seas piano bar with Rob; as he is hilarious and very genuine. The Alchemy Bar serves up some mean martini tastings.
My destination Bermuda was very beautiful. As is typical of ports, there is much shopping. I found Bermuda to be quite pricey; particularly with Bermudian made items. I toured the island for 6 hours with 11 other passengers with Ricky's Island Tours. Ricky is a congenial, fun person to be with. He is very knowledgeable and intelligent. He left the corporate world some years ago to become a tour guide. Ricky truly loves what he does. The cost of the tour was a mere $60.00, which is a far cry from Carnival's 5 hour island tours at #100.00 and $110.00. I was saddened to disembark the Victory and I certainly would not hesitate to sale her again.
