This was our 6th Celebrity cruise and Celebrity is our favorite. However, there were a few things lacking or no quite right.
TO THE PIER
We stayed at the Pacific Gateway hotel the night before the cruise.Nice hotel courteous shuttle driver and desk personnel. We were given information about various ways to the pier in the morning....Skytrain,but you had to handle your luggage quite a bit, shuttle at $15.00 pp which stops at hotels along the way,or a taxi, which costs "about" the same as the shuttle (cost us $45.00)
ON AND OFF
Long delay in Canadian customs due to three ships embarking at the same. No fault of Celebrity ,but they gave us $50.00 OBC for the inconvenience.Disembarkation in Seattle easy....Hint.....Since it seems more and more want to take their bags themselves, choose the latest disembarking time,we found our bags and were through customs in about 15 minutes. And we didn't have the hassle of fighting for elevator space or waiting in line at the gangway.
FOOD AND SERVICE.
SERVICE IN ALL VENUES WAS VERY GOOD TO GREAT (BLU) Didn't use buffet except for light snack on a couple of occasions (don't like to serve myself on vacation) MDR twice . Breakfast (perfect eggs benedict) Lunch (cold and overdone hamburger) Dinner (very good) All other meals in BLU loved the food and service..Since we were in Aqua class we had the choice of BLU or the MDR,Made the mistake of not checking MDR on embarkation day and missed the ONLY day and place when prime rib was served.Bistro on 5 was ok for sandwiches and quiche, but $10.00 surcharge seemed a bit high.Had dinner in Silk Harvest ,.Many choices of Asian food and GENEROUS portions
Here was my biggest disappointment. The production shows seemed to look good, but the sound was so loud we coutdnt make out the words.
The suest enterainers, singer impressionist and comedian were very good, especially the comedian, proving again that you don't have to be profain to be funny. The entertainment throughout the ship seemed to be somewhat lacking. NO PIANO BAR????On embarkation night we were prepared to be disappointed in the fact that there was to be no show, but a presentation by naturalist Brent Nixon. What a surprise! He was so enthusiastic and entertaining that it was one of the best parts of the cruise. His presentation on Steve Irwin was especially interesting because of his unique insights
WE only took 2 excursions....This was our third Alaska cruise,so we had done most of th sightseeing. However,we did take the Ketchikan Duck tour, which was surprisingly informative and entertaining. Also the glacier gardens and glacier in Juneau (mostly to see the gardens) Upside down trees ?
All in all a very good cruise with exceptional service.we will be back !!!!!
as expected, although it seems smaller than A1 cabin
DIDE NOT TAKE EXCURSION
ENTERTAINING AND INFORMATIVE
