We had to fly in one day early in order to make it in time to board the ship, so we decided to explore Ft. Lauderdale as soon as we got in. It was a relaxing evening walking along the boardwalk and eating at Coconuts, a local restaurant on the water, recommended by a local. The next morning, we took the 10 o'clock shuttle to the port and the excitement kicked in. It was very busy, but we were greeted right away and our luggage was tagged and stacked in the luggage bins upon our arrival. We walked right through the check-in without waiting (deck 11). The lower decks had long lines. We were surrounded by friendly people, so waiting to embark was pleasant. Boarding went smoothly, the staff was extremely friendly upon boarding and our room was ready right after we had lunch in Central Park. The ship was clean, our cabin was very nice with lots of storage space and a very large balcony. I would recommend bringing extra hangers for the closet even though there are lots in there. (I had taken someone else's advice to do so, and was glad to have extras). At first I was worried about where to store our 4 suitcases, but everything fit under the bed! Dining was great, we just did the main dining room for dinners and didn't feel the need to spend extra on the specialty restaurants. Our favorite breakfast was at Johnny Rocket's. The cafe in Central Park had salads, sandwiches, chips, and fruit cups; the Solarium had warm lunch (mashed potatoes, stew, fish, salad bar...). We quickly learned what different places were serving so we knew where to go depending on our cravings. The shows we saw were excellent (Come fly with Me, Headliner, and Aqua show). Our excursions were wonderful: Private Beach in St, Thomas was a dream come true! Gorgeous and just a few people with us. We even got to swim with a sea turtle! The kayak and snorkel tour on St. Maarten was great too. We didn't see a ton of bright tropical fish, but for my first time snorkeling in deep waters, it was nice not being overwhelmed by tons of fish. Nassau's Junkanoo Beach wasn't to my liking, so we took a taxi to the public beach by Atlantis. It was beautiful! St. Thomas and St. Maarten's ports were much cleaner. Service on the ship was excellent, we felt very well taken care of everywhere we went aboard. We were so pleased that we're talking about booking another cruise already. This was our first cruise and definitely not our last. We chose to cruise alone this time, but we are considering taking our 4 kids next time. From talking to other families, their kids had a blast!

Cabin Review

Cabin 11609
Beautiful room with a huge balcony. Plenty of storage with a beautiful view! It was a great atmosphere having the balcony sliding door open to listen to the piano and violin players in the evenings. No bugs were a plus too. I was nervous at first, but we slept with the door open an inch so we could hear the nighttime noises (cricket soundtrack) and didn't have any bug problems. :)
