Worst cruise ever.
Ship was in a terrible condition. Two elevators out for entire cruise . Another out periodically during the cruise. Toilets didn't flush. Hot water in the cold taps. Three days to get shower to work.
One engine out of action resulting in a missed port and spending 8 days at sea with only one port of call. This was too much for my wife who left the ship in Darwin and flew home leaving me to continue on my own which was supposed to be an anniversary celebration cruise. Compensation for the missed port was $100 pp which was an insult on a $12000 fare. Didn't even cover the cost of my wife's airfare.
Cabin was fine apart from bathroom problems.
Balcony could do with a good clean and freshen. Varnish was peeling off the hand rail
Local volunteers made it worthwhile
Delays in getting off the ship made it a very short visit
Extending our stay from 2pm til 5 pm made all the difference. My wife left the cruise here
This was to be the highlight of our cruise with a full day excursion booked but this port was cancelled. The reason given was that the ship couldn't reach its maximum speed to reach the port on schedule. This was suspicious as we managed to make all our other ports on schedule. It would have been better if they missed Alotau. Instead we spent days floating around in the ocean with very little to amuse us.
