- Sail Date: May 2016
- Destination: Western Caribbean
Cruised on Freedom Royal Caribbean. May 8-15 western Caribbean. The service and food quality that we had experienced was great.
Embarkation at Port Canaveral couldn't have been easier. We drove in on Sunday morning and used the Port parking garage. Park at 10:40a doors opened at 11:00a Check in was very quick, and we were on board by 11:30. Our cabin wasn't ready until 1p so we went o Windjammer for lunch and to relax.
The ship has recently been outfitted with Voom, Royal Caribbeans internet, The only problem was it's unreliability because it randomly logs you out of the Internet when you lock your device. Even though it was supposed to only log you out every two hours, it randomly would drop our devices after a few minutes. This made it hard to iMessage each other on the ship. I wouldn't recommend the Internet package.
5:15 is the Dreamworks parade through the Promenade. The parade wasn't exactly advertised. Although it is in the Compass. We got ourselves a couple of seats outside the Café Promenade, two coffees, two pieces of cake and we were good to go. The parade was fun, colourful characters from various movies, escape from Madagascar, Kung Foo Panda. Very lively and fun.
The breakfast in the Windjammer was lovely. Fresh fruit, cold cuts, toast, bagels, fruit loaf, danish pastries, eggs, both scrambled and fried, omelette, sausage, pork or turkey, bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, cereals of various types, grits, french toast, hash browns, breakfast potatoes, corned beef hash, salads. Juice, not fresh squeezed unless you have a drinks package, coffee, decaf, 10 types of tea. Whew so much!
Tip: Get a table before getting your food. Take turns at getting your breakfast otherwise your food will be cold before you get to sit down
Tip: When attended a show in the Arcadia you need to arrive at least 30-45 minutes early to get a seat. Also if you go in to see any 3D movies no need to go early but beware you will freeze. Why it needs to be an icebox is a wonder.
About the food..we loved the Windjammer for breakfast & lunch. Our dining was 5:30p loved the waiters in our dining room. They were respectful, entertaining and could not do enough to take care of our dining needs.
Debarkation was very very slow. In baggage area very unorganized.
