After reading some of the reviews, I had to wonder if we were on the same cruise. First of all, one of the reviewers was an RCCL employee (I met her on board). There is no way this was a 5+ cruise. Embarkation as a diamond member was quick, but the line for others was long. The Voyager is going into a short dry dock when it arrives in Europe, and it really needs refurbishing. Carpets, upholstery, curtains, linens, etc. are really tired. Fixing service may not be so easy. RCCL is cutting too many corners. Something as simple as a chocolate on the bed at night has been eliminated. The meals in the dining room are a real hit or miss adventure. How does one have a "shoulder filet"? Paying $15 for a real filet in the dining room is establishing a very unwelcome precedent. Our particular waiter and assistant were outstanding, but they seemed to be the exception rather than the norm. Dress codes were not enforced as several came in wearing golf shirts on formal nights.(Yes, it's their vacation, but they had other venue and/or cruise line choices) Many of the servers in the Windjammer had difficulty with English. There was no one to help with buffet selections and no trays to help oneself. There was very little variation in what was offered daily on the buffet. On the plus side, music around the ship was varied and good. I have been on 3 cruises in the last 6 months: Carnival, Holland America, and RCCL. IMHO, Carnival had the best food and entertainment, HAL had by far the best service, RCCL Voyager comes in a distant 3rd. I have 14 cruises with RCCL and hate to see my favorite cruise line slide so far down the slope. Management needs to take a hard look at the current product.
The bed was up against the balcony door! Had to squeeze through a tiny space to get outside. Surely some other arrangement could be made.
