My brother and his wife invited us to join them and their extended family on this Danube River Cruise. We are so glad we went. We arrived in Munich 4 days before the cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the sights. While in Passau, our departure city, we had opportunity to explore it as we spent our first night on board the Viking VAR in Passau.

Our embarkation went without a hitch. We were served a lunch and that was only the beginning of a week of personal attention. Food was delicious and portion sizes were just right, quality was so amazing with the fresh herbs from the rooftop deck. Every morning was a well organized walking tour of the city and upon re-entry to our ship, we were often greeted with a special treat in the form of food or beverages. No need to worry about bringing along water bottles or umbrellas as they were provided for us as we left the ship for our daily enriching experience.

The VAR was top notch. Modern, clean and contemporary decor. One of the things we loved was the convenience of our proximity of our room to the dining hall and upstairs lounge.

Our cabin was well maintained and in excellent condition. It was small enough to keep us out of the room and active! Nothing to be done about the size. When I needed a needle disposal case, it was delivered in short order. Thank you!
