My wife and I selected the Paris and Heart of Normandy Viking River Cruise (VRC) as a post-retirement celebration, and did we ever make an excellent choice. Simply stated, we had the best vacation ever. Itinerary was first rate. The staff at VRC were of considerable assistance in helping us make the travel arrangements for the trip. We sailed on Viking Rinda. The ships captain, the tour leader, and members of the crew welcomed us on board and assisted us with the check-in process. Our onboard experience was outstanding. The crew was excellent, the room was very comfortable and spacious, the food was fresh, tasty, and plentiful, and the servers were pleasant and helpful. All in all, we could not have asked for a better onboard experience.

We were also impressed with the quality of the excursions that were a key feature of our experience. The VRC planners did an excellent job of selecting points of interest to visit throughout the trip, beginning the visit to Notre Dame in Paris and continuing to the visit of Omaha Beach in Normandy. Of course, the quality of these visits was enhanced by the knowledgeable guides that we encountered. We especially appreciated having access to the communication system that allowed the guides to tell their stories. And the excursions provided just the right mix of structured and free time.

In short, my wife and I had a post-retirement experience that would be hard to beat. More importantly for VRC, our experience served to whet our appetite for other cruises.
