My sister had used carnival cruise line before. She said that we needed to go on a cruise together taking our mom for mother's day. We left Galveston Texas on May 7, 2016 to go to Cozumel then to Progresso Mexico. Once on board we were told that we informed that we would be going to Progresso first disappointed yes but not the end of the world. When it was time to depart Progresso Mexico they starting claiming that the winds were 30 knots and that we couldn't depart. 30 knot winds are roughly 38mph yet I was able to stand on deck next to the rail light and smoke a cigarette. Winds at that speed there is no way that my 120 lbs could stand in one place and smoke. I have pictures that are selfies taken over the water hair blowing but not more then when we arrived at port. The week before Carnival knew if not longer that thruster was not working so why were passengers not notified at that time to: A) change travel dates at no extra charge, B) refunded money, or C)to continue as planned. Better yet why did Carnival not bring in another ship for these cruise instead of allowing a damaged ship to be on the water especially knowing that it had steering issues. a 100.00 refund is not acceptable regardless. Half of our cruise together was taken because of faulty steering. Aside from all that Carnival charged extra for non alcoholic beverages on an all inclusive cruise then failed to provide those beverages after midnight. ie no coffee tea or sodas. I will find another cruise line to travel I hated this line. They are over charging and only providing you with half the experience that they offered. The food was horrible vey bland and flat. Pizza crust so thin and hard that it tasted worse than the cheapest frozen pizza you could buy in the store. The eggs were watery bacon was undercooked the only food that was good that we found was Guy's Burgers Thank God for them or we'd been hungry the entire trip. They did offer travelers the opportunity to disembark ship again in Progresso at about 9 PM how safe is that no security no transportation in a foreign county in the middle of the night. Casino was shut down and machines reset every night so that large wins were impossible to get. The cabin was clean and kept that away the entire trip. The steward was very hard to find so if you needed assistance in your cabin it was not an easy find. On deck ( 8 ) Eight there was a major water leak. now that we are here HOW SAFE DO YOU FEEL?
