The Breakaway is a massive ship with tons of outdoor space to enjoy; and therein lies the problem when the weather is not good. Our cruise encountered mostly windy and overcast days with little heat or sunshine. This forced most of the passengers indoors, and the ship simply does not accommodate this well. Fortunately, we didn't go during a time when a lot of teenagers and children were on board. If we had, the ship might have been unbearable. Many of the dining areas have exposed seating and here isn't enough space to sit indoors during bad weather.

We had bad weather at port, and may of the dining areas have curtailed hours in port. But, when most passengers are still aboard, this is a problem. Food at the noodle bar was nothing short of horrible. The buffet was OK; but nothing special.

Wi-fi was horribly slow, and very intermittent. *** FYI, there is wi-fi at the Port of Bermuda that is fast and cheap. Skip it on the boat, and get caught up once you reach Bermuda. The wi-fi zone there is only $15 for three days, and it's super fast.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BA

Nice cabin. Great steward. The only drawback was poor ventilation in the bathroom. The towels would never dry, and we couldn't use them for more than a couple days. TV was horrible, and given the weather that was an issue.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

Not bad; the problems with embarkation and debarkation were on the ship, not the port
