My husband and I were looking for an extended cruise to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and we had not visited most of the ports on the Southern Caribbean itinerary. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. The ship is beautiful! We especially liked the Atrium. It has a real European feel and is a great location for entertainment. The balcony cabin was very nice but the layout could be better. On similar cruise ships the bed has been positioned close to the windows so you don't have to walk around it all the time. Having the bed in the center of the room makes it feel more cramped than necessary. The bathroom is small but this didn't really bother us, although I found the water pressure to be weaker than on other cruises. But, maybe that was just me. People complain about the size of the balconies on this ship but we thought the balcony was fine. Having traveled on Carnival and Norwegian in the past, we found Princess to be a little more upscale. The extra (included in price) restaurant options like the International Cafe and the Pizza restaurant were especially nice. The food was good overall but we didn't think it was any better than on the other cruise lines and there were evenings where the service was really, really slow. However, the easy availability of anytime dining, sometimes hard to come by on other cruises, was a real plus. Our two biggest criticisms of this cruise were the lack of a mid-ship staircase, and the theatre entertainment. The missing staircase made the elevators extremely crowded and it was frustrating having to wait for an elevator to go up or down one floor. People were really irritable by the end of the cruise. I would think twice about choosing this particular ship again. As for the entertainment, the music around the ship: the house band, the piano player (Korey), the Ukrainian String Quartet, were all excellent. As for the theatre shows, the only thing we really enjoyed was the first comedian, Robbie Printz. We aren't magic fans so while that might have been good, it wasn't interesting to us. The second comic was poor, and the two shows we attempted to enjoy just weren't very good. It was the last cruise to the Caribbean for this ship this year so we thought perhaps the talent may have moved on.
