Was looking for a Danube cruise and AMA got good reviews on Cruise Critic. It lived up to all the positive comments. The ship was beautiful and spotless, the staff exceptional, food very good. Loved the excursions and the excursion leaders -- this is important as much of the time is spent exploring the gorgeous Eastern European towns. They were extremely knowledgeable (many historians, teachers etc) and anything but dry!
The entertainment the ship provided was also wonderful, from the onboard musicians to the beautiful concert in Vienna to the illumination cruise in Budapest. Special thanks and kudos also tto the Ship Manager John Riley. He was calm, knowledgeable and in control of all aspects of the tour. And if he didn't have an answer, he got it ASAP.
We arrived in Prague a day before the tour officially started and he was already behind his tour desk in the hotel lobby. And he has a great sense of humor!
Suited our needs. Beautiful French doors for watching the river and towns as we sailed by. Cabin was very clean, beds were fine, lots of towels. Service excellent. Bathrooms were small which is to be expected, but the shower was quite large. Also a lot of storage space (plus many hangars!) which was a pleasant surprise. Someone on the CC website advised to bring magnetic hooks for extra storage but we didn't need them.
