Sail Date: May 2016

My wife and I have been on over 50 cruises and several lines, but this is our first cruise on NCL since we sailed on the Norway. We wanted to see the Fjords and we arriving in Copenhagen on the Regal Princess and the NCL Star was leaving the same day for a 7 day cruise to Norway-- Perfect. The only problem was the ship was dirty and the service was poor. Only our room steward exceeded expectations.

Embarkation was smooth and our room was ready. It was a balcony room and adequate in size, but lacked plugs and drawer space. The couch was hard and the table not very sturdy.

Our experience with Freestyle dining was not good. Anytime means anytime NCL wants to feed you. Often restaurants were open limited hours and they was a real effort to get you to go to a specialty restaurant. We ate and one and the service and food was much better than the main dining rooms. It was often difficult to get into a main dining room, even if you had a reservation. The hostesses did not seem to know where the tables were and kept asking for your cruise card for no apparent reason. Food was pretty good but selections did not change much from night to night. Both main dining rooms have the same menu. The buffet will remind you have a school cafeteria. Long table, wooden chairs on metal and food and dirty dishes all over the place. The organization is poor and the service non existent. They just do not have enough staff.
