7 night Barrier Reef cruise.

The Pacific Dawn is now around 25 years old and its beginning to show with dated decor (read lots of browns, orange and cream) everywhere on board. Time for a revamp.

Those seeking a five star pampering are well advised to research before booking with P&O as this ship is not in the five star game. It's a 3 1/2 star liner at best and it doesn't hold itself out to be any more which is fine as it targets the biggest demographic in Australia and does it well. If you're looking for sophisticated elegance try elsewhere just don't whinge when this doesn't live up to lofty expectations. You get what you pay for and the line delivers on most counts. The on board entertainment was quite good and it kept most of the 2000 guests entertained. The top deck was pretty much taken over by the bogan crowd with all their, look at me, tatts on display. The amount of drinks sold on board over the 7 days must be staggering as it was unusual to walk anywhere on the boat without seeing someone with a beer or cocktail in hand, but to their credit, I didn't see any signs of aggression as staff kept everything running smoothly.
