The food was horrible - i tried to get as many meals as i could off the ship. And the service in the restaurants was extremely bad. One night we waited more than 30minutes before getting bread, water or drinks. Another night we asked for a coffee after dinner, the waiter told us we could go to the bar to get it ourselves.
The cabin steward was uncooperative. And the day that they did balcony cleaning they made the balcony look actually dirtier than it had been. The cabin itself remained dirty throughout our stay and despite our complaints.
Reception service was shockingly horrible. They were consistently rude, particularly Manuel. At one point Manuel was telling us it was absolutely impossible to take our luggage off the ship ourselves. We had a very early and urgent transfer at the end of the cruise and could not trust them to take our luggage off the ship in a timely fashion (because while embarking they said it would take one hour to get the luggage to our room, and it took three hours.) In the end of course we took our luggage off the ship ourselves with no problem - and i recommend this as we were gone off the ship WAY ahead of the people that followed their procedure.
Rome is the most amazing city in the world. But visiting it from a cruise is the wrong way to do it. Civitavecchia is far and inconvenient to get to and from. If you are going to Rome on your own pick just one or two things you really want to be be satisfied with that. Or, ideally, hire a private guide. The cruise excursions are nightmarish.
Docking downtown is really nice.
Palma is beautiful and wonderful. Easy to get around by taxi or rented electric car from right outside the port.
WONDERFUL. Super beautiful, very exotic. We rented ATVs from right outside the port - book ahead though as they did sell out right after us.
Messina is blah at best.
