NCL Gem I have to say really tries to please. They know the competition is tough. I have always known in business the whole flavor and atmosphere comes down from the top. The man or woman in charge sets the stage and the employees react from the chief's management tone and style. So I want to say a few words about the captain and the guys at the top.

The number one thing is that I am able to say somethings about these guys since they made themselves available to be in touch with the customers. GREAT MOVE ON THEIR PART. The captain has huge experience in commanding and serving on many different ships. From oilers to freighters to cruise ships. I spoke with several employees about the captain. They all said the same thing. He is the best. Take the outside bartender who serves rain or shine on the back deck. Our bartender has been serving on cruise ships for more than twenty years. He said about the captain, "I have never worked for a better man. He always wants to hear from you, and he actually listens." "Most captains just don't take the time this captain does."

Believe it or not I took the time to speak with the staff captain. What a wonderful guy. I asked him a stupid question and he actually answered it professionally and pleasingly.
